❝oh, it’s not. this building is awful. everyone is shady.❞

her body flings next to him on the couch, legs crossed as she pulls
out a first aid kit from the small drawer in her coffee table. fists rise
once the kit spills out across her lap, pulling some rocky balboa shit
to punctuate the next thought.

❝made me shady, too, just to keep up. there’s salt in
my veins now, peter. alright : arms up. shirt off.

       ❛         yeah, i get you.     ❜

fingers reach towards the ending of the shirt, effortlessly removing it, revealing tiny gashes. each one bleeding a dark red, since he’d just recently received them from the sharpness of the vulture’s WINGS. following along with those, a few bruises accumulate his visage.

❛          is it just you here?     ❜

This is from the Back in Black arc, in which Peter Parker goes after Kingpin for shooting his Aunt May. Prior to this, he made it very clear that it wasn’t Spider-Man that had come for him, it was Peter Parker, the man who had just had the woman who raised him shot right in front of him.

This is why, in my opinion, people take Peter too lightly. If he had a mind for it, he could easily be one of the most dangerous and deadly forces in the Marvel universe.

As he says in this run, when he puts his mind to it, the thing he’s best at is hurting people.

Peter? I know things have been difficult lately and I’m sorry about that. Ever since you were a little boy, you’ve been living with so many unresolved things. Well, take it from an old man. Those things send us down a road… they make us who we are. And if anyone’s destined for greatness, it’s you, son. You owe the world your gifts. You just have to figure out how to use them and know that wherever they take you, we’ll always be here. So, come on home, Peter. You’re my hero… and I love you!
